Handmade ceramic replica of Phaistos Disk, on a marble base; a decorative object with great historic significance.
The Phaistos Disc has been discovered inside the Minoan palace of Phaistos on the island of Crete. It is made of clay and possibly dates to the middle or late Minoan Bronze Age. The original disk is about 15 cm (5.9 in) in diameter and on both sides we can find a spiral of stamped symbols, that were imprinted on fresh clay using seals and are, therefore, considered to be the earliest example of typography.
The language imprinted on the disk has never been fully decoded, as it refers to an alphabet that is yet to be deciphered.
