The etymology of the word “akrokeramon” or “akrokeramos” in Ancient Greek, means the outermost roof tile. Its purpose in Ancient Greece was to keep the roof tiles in place and add a decorative element in the corners of a roof. This architectural element can be found inthe decoration of the Parthenon roof.
